ISEA Hand Protection Experts to Present at 2018 NSC Congress and Expo – October 23

The human hand is one of the most important tools in a work environment, regardless of the task being performed.  It is also most vulnerable to occupational injury, ranking high among all injury types. Join PPE Experts from ISEA, in a discussion on the innovations in hand protection, to better protect workers from cuts and impact injuries. Moderated by Cristine Fargo, ISEA’s Director of Member and Technical Services.

When: Tuesday, October 23, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Where: National Safety Council (NSC) Congress and Expo, Houston TX

The ANSI/ISEA 105-2016American National Standard for Hand Protection Classification, included key updates for cut-resistance testing and corresponding classification levels, to assist end users and specifiers in properly selecting appropriate hand protection based on testing and classification. Paul Harris, Vice President of Product Strategy and Innovations with MCR Safety, will address the various cut performance classification and what it means, and provide an update on how the changes to the standard have impacted worker safety.

ISEA has launched a project to develop back-of-the-hand impact protection testing and performance criteria, as a new standard initiative. Dorsal side injuries are particularly common in automotive, cargo handling, towing and transportation, oil and gas drilling, mining, heavy equipment and construction industries. Rodney Taylor, Global Sales and Marketing Manager for Industrial PPE with D3O, will discuss the new standard, aiming to provide 100 percent hand protection coverage, and address multiple scenarios to provide low and high impact protection.
