ISEA Partners with OSHA to Distribute Safety Equipment, Keeping Hurricane Cleanup and Recovery Workers Safe

The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) partnered with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), to coordinate and distribute much needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to areas impacted by one of the most active hurricane seasons to date. ISEA is working with OSHA leadership to coordinate distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) in Texas and the Caribbean Basin, including Puerto Rico.

“OSHA’s goal is to keep workers and volunteers safe while they perform cleanup and recovery operations, and the ISEA is an important partner in these efforts,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Loren Sweatt.

The storms created hazardous and unstable conditions not only for residents, but also for the cleanup and recovery workers tasked with returning the affected areas to safe, functional order. ISEA members were quick to mobilize to ensure that workers have the personal protective equipment (PPE) they need during cleanup and recovery operations.

“ISEA members are willing to roll up their sleeves and help those impacted by these storms. They are committed to keeping workers safe, and know all too well the importance of proper selection and use of safety equipment in hazardous work environments,” said Chuck Johnson, ISEA President.

Information on specific safety equipment for storm cleanup and recovery can be found on the ISEA Storm Cleanup: Safety Equipment Resource Center page and on OSHA’s Emergency Preparedness and Response page
