Combating Fake & Fraudulent PPE and Online Scams
April 21 13:00:00 April 21 14:30:00 America/New_York Combating Fake & Fraudulent PPE and Online Scams

Please join your colleagues on Wed. April 21, from 1 – 2:30 for an informative double-header on steps you can take to combat fake and fraudulent PPE and take on online PPE scammers.

1:00 – 1:45 – Session 1

Current effort to pierce the internet veil to bring online PPE (and other) scammers to justice.

Libby Baney, Partner, Fraegre Drinker, who leads the Coalition for a Transparent and Secure and Internet (CTSI) will speak about this effort, which aims to help brand and IP holders find out who is behind online PPE and other scams.  Currently, CTSI is seeking legislation in Congress that would require ICANN to provide registrar and registrant information when IP and brand identity is misused.

1:45 – 2:30 – Session 2

Ways to help CBP enforcement staff help you

Lauren Phillips and Elizabeth Jenior, attorney-advisors from Customs and Border Protection (CBP).  The agency is asking IP holders to “record” their trademarks, patents, and other IP with CBP.  This will allow agency staff members to better protect your products at the ports.

Attorneys Phillips and Jenior will speak about how manufacturers can record their IP, and take your questions on how to correctly add your brand info to federal enforcement databases.

Please contact Dan Glucksman at 703-795-6064 or at [email protected] to register, with any questions, or for more information on either of these topics.
