QSSP Course Faculty

Dan Shipp is past president of the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), the trade organization for personal protective equipment and clothing. ISEA is the sponsor of the QSSP course, and is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a standards developing organization.

As the senior staff officer of ISEA, Shipp represented US safety equipment manufacturers before Congress and US regulatory agencies, as well as global government and industry forums. He has participated in standards meetings in Mexico, Europe and China, and addressed audiences around the world on use and selection of personal protective equipment. He has spoken on standards and standards development at meetings sponsored by ANSI and safety industry groups as well as the Interagency Board for Equipment Standardization and InterOperability, written articles on standardization in both safety equipment and electrical equipment, and produced a lesson on standards that is part of the curriculum of the Qualified Safety Sales Professional course.

Before joining ISEA in 1993, Shipp was vice president, public affairs for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association in Washington, DC. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Safety Council, as well as an advisor to the NIOSH National Occupational Research Agenda. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and served in the US Army from 1969-1971.
