Jennifer Stradtman is the Director for Technical Barriers to Trade in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). In this capacity, Ms. Stradtman addresses technical barriers to trade through various fora, including APEC, the TPP process, and the WTO TBT Committee. Prior to joining USTR, Ms. Stradtman was an International Trade Specialist in the office of the standards liaison at the International Trade Administration. Her responsibilities included training for officers of the Commercial Service who work with U.S. companies on standards-related issues. She has been recognized for her advocacy of the U.S. private sector standardization system during the development of U.S. government policies and positions relating to standards, conformity assessment and trade. Previously, Ms. Stradtman served as the senior trade compliance specialist for the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement (TBT). She was a Department of Commerce representative to the WTO TBT Committee, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s Interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee (TPSC) Subcommittee on Standards and Technical Barriers, and the U.S. delegation to the Codex Committee on Food Labeling. She remains actively involved in coordinating private sector and government positions between the ISO committee for food traceability and Codex Alimentarius. She frequently serves on ANSI delegations to regional standards bodies in the Pacific Rim and the Americas.
