ISEA continues to strengthen its leadership team with the addition of Diana Jones as Senior Director of Technical Programs and Development. An electrical engineer, Jones has more than 20 years of leadership and technical experience in the electrical, fire, and life safety industry.
Jones comes to ISEA after five years with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), where she led the vision, strategy, and roadmap for NFPA’s electrical, industrial, and chemical safety codes and standards, promoting the use of NFPA’s safety standards to businesses, organizations, and governments domestically and internationally. Prior to her work at NFPA, Jones held management positions at Encore Fire Protection, Tyco | SimplexGrinnel, and Kiddie Fire Systems, where she interpreted electrical, fire, and life safety codes and standards requirements.
“We are excited to have Diana join ISEA to help drive our standards program forward,” said ISEA Chairman Tom Votel, president and CEO of Ergodyne. “With her years of management experience in relationship building within the safety sector and integral knowledge about the standards development process, she is a great fit to lead our efforts in developing and promoting consensus performance standards for safety equipment.”
In her role at ISEA, Jones will support ISEA product groups and provide direction and oversight for all ISEA-administered voluntary standards. Working with industry and association leaders, she will steward and grow the industry’s standards program, identifying opportunities for expansion and establishing relationships with new stakeholders.
“I’m thrilled to be on the ISEA team,” said Jones. “Safety assurance has been a life-long passion of mine, and I’m lucky to have turned that passion into a career. I believe in ISEA’s mission whole-heartedly, and I look forward to growing the association’s programs all while helping to protect the workers of the world.”

Standards Development at ISEA
ISEA is a recognized, accredited developer of consensus performance standards for safety equipment and technology. The association manages all aspects of the American National Standards under its purview, from drafting through consensus development and approval, publication, interpretation, promotion, and updating. In addition to its own standards, ISEA is officially represented on numerous standards committees of other organizations in the U.S. and around the world and is a trusted participant in standards deliberations in government agencies.
The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) is the trade association for personal protective equipment and technologies. Its member companies, united in the goal of protecting the health and safety of workers worldwide, are global leaders in the design, manufacture, testing, and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE), which protects more than 111 million workers across the U.S. Since 1933, ISEA has been a recognized leader in the development of ANSI-accredited safety equipment standards, in the United States and around the world. ISEA works with Congress and government agencies to consult with policymakers whose decisions affect the industry.
Nationwide, the safety equipment industry supports 345,001 total jobs and generates more than $71.6 billion in economic activity. In 2020, the safety equipment industry paid $5 billion in federal taxes and nearly $4 billion in state taxes, for a total tax generation of $9 billion. For more information visit safetyequipment.org.
