Heat Stress Solutions Worker Protections

Heat stress occurs when the body’s means of controlling its internal temperature starts to fail. Once the body’s temperature reaches 99.7° F, heat stress has already begun to affect the body, and by 104° F, it becomes susceptible to severe damage. Proper preventative action against heat stress involves a mix of engineering, administrative and work practice controls, as well as the use of cooling PPE. 181
