Four Senators and six members of the House of Representatives spoke at a June 11 rally on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, calling on their colleagues in Congress to pass legislation to support the Highway Trust Fund.
The event, sponsored by a dozen construction, transportation and labor organizations in addition to ISEA, is designed to call attention to the critical need for a fully funded, multi-year transportation bill.
Supporters understand that this legislation is necessary to fund the country’s transportation infrastructure, which supports economic growth and global competitiveness. Constructing and maintaining America’s roads, bridges and transportation systems also creates jobs for American workers.
ISEA has been a sponsor of the Rally for Roads since its inception, to bring attention to the role personal protective equipment plays in keeping construction workers safe and healthy. In addition to the association support, member companies donated logo hard hats, high-visibility caps and cooling wraps for speakers and attendees.
“Transportation funding provides good jobs for workers to go to every day,” said ISEA president Dan Shipp. “But they work in a hazardous environment. ISEA member companies provide the equipment that helps ensure that these workers come home to their families safe and sound.”
