End User Panel: Challenges in Mitigating Heat Stress on the Job
The world is once again experiencing record temperatures this summer, with millions under heat warnings every day. However, work must go on, which means those exposed to extreme heat on the job, both indoor and out, are at risk for heat-related illness and injury.
A recent emphasis on occupational heat stress by the federal government and states has encouraged employers to enhance heat safety programs. But there is much more to be done for and by employers.
In this virtual end-user panel, moderated by ISEA, VPPPA members will chat about their experiences mitigating heat stress for workers. They will share best practices, highlight ongoing and new challenges, and discuss worker needs.
In this 30-min session, with additional time for Q&A, attendees will:
- Hear from safety professionals charged with keeping workers safe in high temperatures
- Learn what’s working and what’s not in outdoor and indoor heat mitigation
- Understand how the OSHA NEP has impacted employers
- Get a feel for what more is needed to help employers protect their workers in the heat
Panelists:
Brad Gibson, Vice President – HSE @ S&B Engineers and Constructors
Jenni Lubbers, Director of EHS&S, @ Cardinal IG Company
