The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) is pleased to welcome Charles D. Johnson as its new president, effective August 1, 2017.  Mr. Johnson succeeds Daniel K. Shipp, who retires this year after serving as the Association’s president since 1993.

“Charles will be a tremendous addition to our leadership team, and a new voice for our strategic vision,” said Eric Beck, Chairman of The International Safety Equipment Association and Strategic Market Consultant at MSA Safety.  “Dan Shipp’s service to the industry is unparalleled. The International Safety Equipment Association and our staff have reached many milestones over the course of his 24 years with the industry. I am certain that Charles’s experience and drive will lead to further success in the years to come.”

Mr. Johnson has served most recently as the Vice-President of Policy for The Aluminum Association, acting as strategic advisor to the industry and advancing the aluminum industry’s interests in Washington DC and abroad. His responsibilities have included federal affairs, environmental regulation, occupational health and safety, community and consumer protection, international regulation, and sustainability.

His career with the Aluminum Industry has spanned 18 years and during that time Mr. Johnson has represented the industry at the WHO/FAO, in diverse standards setting forums, and in international corporate stewardship deliberations.

Mr. Johnson holds a B.A. from the University of Mississippi and an M.A. in international environmental policy from The American University.
