“For more than a decade, ISEA and its members have urged Congress and SNS managers to take action in ensuring the United States is adequately prepared to respond to health safety threats.”
– Charles Johnson, ISEA President
The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) applauds President Trump and his administration for confirming plans to restructure and fully restock the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). ISEA and its members stand ready to support the planning process, offering industry expertise and strategic insights on how best to ensure a resilient national stockpile.
“It is imperative our nation’s leaders make plans now to ensure we are better prepared for future health crises,” said ISEA President Charles Johnson. “ISEA and its members are pleased to know the White House is prioritizing preparedness efforts to protect those responding to public health emergencies.”
ISEA was instrumental in helping to coordinate the integration of personal protective equipment (PPE) into the SNS in 2006. Following depletion of stocks during the 2009 flu pandemic, PPE was not significantly restored, and since then ISEA and PPE manufacturers have steadily advocated the US government make efforts to do so.
Johnson added, “For more than a decade, ISEA and its members have urged Congress and SNS managers to take action in ensuring the United States is adequately prepared to respond to health safety threats. We’ve feared low inventory and possibly expired PPE in the strategic stockpile could be detrimental to a public health crisis. We look forward to working with the government to restructure the SNS and see that it’s maintained in a better state of readiness.”
